Unlike last year, there will be no credit allowance or discount for the holders of the Golden Eagle permit toward campground or other user fees.

The $10 Golden Eagle permits are now available at the Park Headquarters, Shenandoah National Park, Luray, Virginia 22835, or the National Park Service, Department of the Interior, Washington, D. C., 20240. They will also be available at all Park entrance stations and campground ranger stations in the Park when they open in the spring. Superintendent Hoskins also stated that roughly 40% of the recreations fee money collected is used to buy additional Federal recreation areas, including seashores, lakeshores, and oth^| park and forest lands. The olrer 60% is used by the states, and, to some extent, through them to towns and counties to buy and develop “near home” recreation areas. These grants are matched with an equal amount from state or local sources and help buy the last bit of woods near town or change that ugly junkyard to a park!
