The map of the proposed high voltage transmission line as submitted to the Zoning Office shows that the route of the line i parallels the historic road first on the west and then crossing to the east with the obvious result of destroying the rural tranquility and natural authenticity of the area.
Aside from the plunder of our historic resources, I personally object to the 235 foot gash through the heart of the county that will be perennially renewed through the use of herbicides.
If the proposed line is allowed to go through the County, I predict, in all seriousness, that in years to come the description of the location of property in Rappahannock will be determined by the relation of the power line. The question will be “Which side of the power line do you live?” The east side will mean that the view of the Blue Ridge will be blocked and those living to the west will find their TV reception impaired. Therefore, either side of the power line is the wrong side.
