Entry Forms Ready
Applications for contestants who wish to enter the Beauty Pageant sponsored by the Rap pahannock Jaycees may be obtained from either the elementary or high school office or from a member of the local Jayeee organization. Heading the pageant which is scheduled for April 30 this year is J. B. Willis, who will be glad to furnish any information concerning this activity. His phone number is 987-8177, Sperry ville.
Each entry must have a business firm or individual as a sponsor and the sponsor’s fee is $3 per entry. If there is a young lady who wishes to participate in the pageant, but who does not have a sponsor, contact Mr. Willis, for there are sponsors who are looking for contestants. Chairman Willis will make the match if you will inquire.
Groves Sentenced
Walter Groves of Jeffersonton was sentenced to 20 years in the penitentiary for the slaying last April of Russell Thomas Haines of Amissville. Sentence was passed Tuesday morning in Rappahannock County Circuit Court by Judge R. V. Snead, who announced that the case would be continued until May 5 for further motion. Haines was shot by Groves April 18,1970 at the home of Roy Jordan near Flint Hill.
