A late winter or early spring snow is always a bit startling as was the soggy blanket which covered much of the state Friday. Schools here and in the surrounding area were closed though the roads, never really became hazardous in Rappahannock. The snow was about two inches deep here though the official measure was less than 1 inch. In Orange the precipitation measured as much as seven inches. About this time last year a five-inch snow fell in Rappahannock. These maple blooms may have been puzzled over the turn of events.
