Plans Unfold For
July 4th Celebration
Congressman J. Kenneth Robinson will be the featured speaker for the July Fourth celebration sponsored by Amissville Ruritans and scheduled for Saturday, July 3 at ' the Amissville carnival grounds. The celebration and parade is held ' in conjunction with the annual pit cooked beef barbecue instituted by the group several years ago. A parade will open the 1 celebration at 4 p.m. going from the fire house to the Ruritan horse show ring on the carnival grounds. 1 Preceding the address by Congressman Robinson, there will be a salute to the flag followed by a brief retreat ceremony under the supervision of an Honor Guard from Vint Hill Farms. Newbill Miller, Chairman of the Rap- 1 pahannock County Board of 1 Supervisors will marshal. *
Closing this portion of the 1 program will be the judging of the 1 costumed “Uncle Sam” and “Miss ( Liberty” contestants. All children 1 from ages 6 through 10 are invited 1 to participate. Judging will be( based on beauty and originality. A ' $25 Saving Bond will be awarded ( the winner of each group. The Independence celebration,1 sponsored by the Amissville Ruritan Club, is directed by the Citizenship and Patriotism Committee of the club. The pit-cooked beef barbecue supper will be served beginning at 5 p.m. and continue until 9 at the food stand on the carnival grounds.
Lt. Gen. Daniel Noce will introduce the guest speaker. The
Rev. B. Gale Titchenell of J Woodville, a former U. S. Marine, will offer the invocation.
