Would you like to see and paricipate in a parade featuring old 'ashioned vehicles, farm equipnent, tools, machines, horses and ■iders - everybody decked out in )ld time clothes, bonnets and hats, bonnets and hats, a mountain still (if one can be found) country music and much more? There will be such a parade if ; nough adults and children and >rganizations will rally to the :olors on the Nation’s birthday!!! James B. Massie, President of he Rappahannock Historical Society, announces the Society is iager to sponsor and help organize such a parade. It would begin at 6 j.m. Sunday, July 4, following the activities of the afternoon at the Rappahannock Library in Washington, Va. Mrs. Mary Jamieson, Chairman of the Library Board, welcomes this exciting addition to the :elebrations this year. Mayor Dorothy Davis, in granting official jermission for the parade, said she hoped that there would be an enthusiastic response. Her Honor vill be in charge of the Judges' stand in front of the Library, vhere through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. William Carrigan, valuable antiques will be given as prizes for the best showings in perhaps three categories. Various people and arganizations are making plans to participate with floats and other appropriate entries; however, more must take part if the parade s to truly reflect colorful Rappahannock. Everybody- likes a parade, especially children and he young in heart, so here is your :hance to share your pride and ove of family and country with he whole County.
