Several people sustained from slight to serious injuries in a headon collision Saturday on Route 211 between Washington and Sperry ville and a number of other traffic incidents were also reported. A 69 Volkswagen operated by Dennis'Michael Gerrity of Vienna was struck by a 71 Plymouth operated by Richard Knolton Preston of College Park, Md. Preston was passing another vehicle on a solid line up hill when he slammed head-on into the Gerrity VW, according to investigating officer Trooper W. A. Buntin. The collision occurred at 5:30 p.m. a mile and a half east of Sperryville. Gerrity was taken to Culpeper Memorial Hospital by Rappahannock Rescue Squad and transferred to the University of Virginia, Charlottesville. He is reported to have a concussion, fractured neck, chest trauma and injuries of both legs and right hand. Five youngsters, passengers in the Preston vehicle, were taken to Culpeper Memorial by Flint Hill Rescue Squad. They were Paula Smith, 12; Larken Preston, 12; Bannon Preston 9; Richard Preston, 10; all of College Park; and Lee Platt, 10 of Silver Spring, Md. All sustained contusions and abrasions of the face and knees. Preston was charged with reckless driving. A farm tractor and passenger car were involved in a collision Friday afternoon on Route 231 south of Sperryville. The tractor, a 65 International operated by Hughie Meredith of Woodville was owned by A. Y. Stokes, Sperryville. Meredith was attempting to make a left turn ofl the highway when Lorene Frances
