The grand total isn’t in as yet but to date 982 horses, ponies and mules have been vaccinated for V.E.E. in Rappahannock. Bill Wake, our local D.V.M., has done a great job on this program. Bill has been around so many horses in the past few weeks I could swear I detected a trace of a ‘whinny’ in his voice last Saturday night. Thanks, horse owners for your cooperation. . Over the years one of the bottle necks to increasing the business efficiency of the cow-calf operation has been a practical, , successful, relatively easy method ] of identifying each individual cow , and calf. We have tried neck , chains, brisket tags, hot branding, | freeze branding, and a dozen , different kinds of ear tags. Several ] times I thought I had the answer to , this problem but have been proven wrong. But now after talking to many a cattleman and watching the results for 3 or 4 years suggest you try the “Ritchie” ear tag. It will do the job. For further information call me or better still talk to the men who are using them - Dabney East ham, Jim Bill Fletcher, Admr. Joe Gardiner, H. L. Manwaring, Newbill Miller, Allen Stokes and Gordon Thornhill to mention a few.

See you at the Rappahannock Feeder Calf Sale in Front Royal next Tuesday.
