Now with the State Police as a conditionally appointed trooper and undergoing field training in the Bowling Green area is William E. Walther of Amissville, Col. H.W. Burgess, Superintendent of the Department, has announced.
Colonel Burgess „ said that following the training policies of the Department, Trooper Walther will work always with an experienced trooper in the roles of student and observer. He will remain in the area until the next Basic Training School convenes April 24.
Each trooper is required, immediately upon employment, to undergo at least a month of such training before attending the 21week Basic Training Course in Richmond. The time he spends in field training depends upon the scheduling of the next Basic Training School after his employment. After basic training, he will be permanently reassigned.
