FRANCIS UPDIKE of Richmond has been appointed executive secretary for the Virginia Angus Association effective April 26, it has been announced by Dr. A.V. Bartenslager, preseident.

Updike came to the Virginia Angus Association with a wealth of livestock knowledge, having been reared on the family farm in Washington, Va.,andactive in 4-H and FFA work.

He was a member of the successful 1959 Virginia Livestock Judging Team which won the contest at the Virginia State Fair, won the contest at the Eastern National in Maryland and finished sixth at the National Livestock Show in Chicago.

Updike was high individual scorer at the show in Maryland and tied for third high in Chicago. His livestock experience was interrupted for four years service in the U.S. Air Force. More recently, he has been associated with the State of Virginia as a job analyst in the Governor’s Personnel Office.
