Board of Supervisors, had already talked to the county’s representatives in the General Assembly, and both Delegate Slaughter and State Senator Aldhizer had promised that they would look into the situation. A resolution from the Rappahannock Board might help prod them along, Miller suggested.

Chairman Miller emphasized that “I’m not arguing with the standards for quality education —it’s the formula proposed for paying for it that worries me.”

WOOD WAS willing to extend his objections to the standards themselves. Recalling a briefing from School Superintendent Norton, he thought some of the standards “were far out.”

Wood summed his position up this way: “We should oppose any foolish program.”
