But she did object to the State’s formula for paying for “quality education,” and made her motion to place the county on record in objection. o'd*
“THE WAY it is, the only way some people could pay their taxes is to sell their land,” said Newbill Miller.
“I don’t think the people knew what {hey were voting on when they voted on that new State Constitution,” said H. B. Wood.
“I didn’t vote for it!” said Jack Miller.
Wood continued to insist on his point about ques-"4" tioning the very standards themselves — or to request more detailed information about what will be required — and after a period of discussion and some difficulty in finding exactly the wording that was desired, a resolution to this effect was passed.
“WHY SHOULD we just sit still while they force us to do things that may not be feasible in a rural county?” Wood asked of his fellow Supervisors. “That would just be throwing our money away.” His resolution eventually received unanimous approval. □
