STUDENTS who get monthly social security payments may now get checks for a time after their 22nd birthday, according to Mrs. Hazel F. Crumpton, social security district manager in Winchester.
“Under a change in the law, an undergraduate student can continue to get social security payments through the end of the semester or quarter in which he reaches age 22,” she added.
If the student’s school does not use the semester or quarter system, payments can continue until he completes the course he’s taking or two months after he reaches 22, whichever comes first.
“The change means students will no longer face the probleitKof having their benefits^top in the middle of a school term,” Mrs. Crumpton said.
