A total of nearly 49,000 deer taken statewide sets a new state record for whitetail. Southampton County alone reported over 2,700 * deer to lead all counties.
Rockingham County was second in the state and led western counties with 1902 Virginia bowhunters checked in 673 or these whitetails, a state record in itself. a
