preferred crow hunting season to aid in advising the Commission which fourmonth period Virginians would like to hunt crows, reported Executive Director Chester F. Phelps.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service put the crow on the protected “song bird” list, following a new treaty agreement between the United States and Mexico negotiated last year.

“THE FISH and Wildlife Service has now offered the states their choice of a four-month hunting season anytime outside the peak crow nesting season,” Phelps said. “The Commission’s dilemma will be to decide whether this short period should fall during regular hunting seasons or should fall out-* side these dates to give hunters some “offseason” sport,” he added.
