Putnam
A funeral service for Bedford Grimsley Putnam of Castleton was held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Geest Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Wyman Hall, pastor Of Hume Baptist Church. Interment was in Hillcrest Memory Gardens where he was given full military honors.
Mr. Putnam was injured at the Wayne Brady Ford Motor Company in Warrenton, Where he was employed, and was taken to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Washington, D. C. where he died March 11, 1973.
He was the son of the late Noah B. and Mary Grimsley Putnam of Rappahannock County. He was 50.
A veteran of World War II, he served as heavy machine gunner over two years in the European and African theatres and was engaged in a number of the major battles.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Humphries Putnam; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Putnam Hawkins of Castleton; tow stepsons, Carl Wayne Twomey of Hume, and William Eldred Twomey II of Washington, D. C.; one brother, Calvin Coolidge Putnam of FrontRoyal; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Cook of Amissville, Mrs. Lorelle (Mazie) Bur
