The music section of the programme embraces all types of current American pop music from ballad, rock, beat and acid rock and what have you to classics. Frequently, the Breakfast Show broadcasts from points “on location” in the U.S. It covers the spectrum of life in the country focussing always on people — their foibles, successes, problems, failures, hopes, dreams and frustrations.
Pat is planning to go to Hawaii to meet her two children on her way back. Phil has a flair for description. Take this one of the Grand Canyon. “I walked up to the edge of the Grand Canyon and looked down. It was incredibly beautiful. I could see a tiny bit of river and all colours of the rainbow —deepening blues, a little red and green towards the far side of the canyon ranging to a very deep purple. There were tears in my eyes.”
