Noakes
A funeral service for Silas Noakes of Boston was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Nazareth Baptist Church, Boston, conducted by the Rev. R. L. Banks. Burial was in the family section of the church cemetery.
Mr. Noakes died April 3, 1973 in the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville.
Born in Rappahannock County, he had lived in Culpeper County for 60 years and was a farmer. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Woodville.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Julia B. Noakes; three daughters, Mrs. Laurie N. Brown, Mrs. Lucy H. Vegay and Mrs. Roberta Amminger; five sons, Silas Noakes, Levi Noakes, James Noakes, Gilbert Noakes, and Richard Noakes; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Carter and Miss Lizzie Noakes; a brother Stonewall Noakes; and 22 grandchildren. □
