THE SPRING Gobbler season opens this Saturday, April 14 in Rappahannock County.
All adjoining counties will also be open for this season which runs through Saturday, May 12. Legal hunting hours are from one half hour before sunrise until 11 a.m.
The term “Gobbler Season” is not entirely correct as far as which birds are legal is concerned. Bearded turkeys are legal during the Spring Season. If a beard is visible it is legal, regardless of sex. If the bird is a young gobbier with no beard visible it is not legal.
