Ben Forberg said that land use assessment isn’t all that startling, anyway, since Virginia has had a “de facto system of preferential assessment” for years, favoring farm land.
“I’M NOT promoting the change,” he stressed. “But when the time comes, you should take a hard look at this land use business.” t As to Rappahannock’s specific reappraisal, Forberg said notices will be mailed to everyone when the new appraisals are completed, and “we’ll give everyone a chance to come in and reach an understanding.”
All the state appraisers will need is an office, secretarial help and “a few supplies,” he added.
