Park visits

show decrease

Visitation in Shenandoah National Park continues on a downward trend with a decrease of 38.3% for the first two months of this year. February 1974 travel was down 46.4% from this month a year ago.

Last year in February 72,800 persons visited the Park while this year only 39,000 have done so.

“It appears that visitors are spending more time per Park visit in 1974 since there has been no significant reduction in overnight stays, ” said Superintendent Robert Jacobsen.

Weather statistics show 5.8 inches of snowfall this month with the maximum temperature 59 degrees and the minimum 20. □
