HAVING PASSED MY ALLOTTED threescore and ten; and living on borrowed time, I still have the temerity (or audacity) to look forward to continued blessings on this plane. Among those blessings I anticipate a reversal or a slowing down of progress. How do these things jjrab you—less plastic, things made to endure, home-made bread, a milch cow in the pasture and homes becoming homes again. How about a steam car and the old choo choo train. I am pretty sure we are beginning to realize how stupid we were to abandon that form of travel, already.

I would like to see people turning back to God. I would like to see our churches filled with worshippers on Sunday, singing ‘praise God from whom all blessings flow’ because they felt like singing; not just when they passed the collection plate.

Well, we are in the lion-lamb month. I’m not sure about its beginning; was it a mild lion or a rambunctious lamb? Anyway, spring is right around the corner, the Old New Year.

May I share this poem by Charles Towne? It is titled God’s Witnesses.

I need not shout my faith. Thrice eloquent

Are quiet trees and green listening sod;

Hushed are the stars, whose power is never spent;

The hills are mute, yet how they speak of God.
