“THE RAPPAHANNOCK Recreation Center will belong to everyone,” stressed Granville Eastham, president of the Recreational Center Association, as he issued an appeal to every resident of the county to “get involved” by making a cash contribution to help make the center a reality. This money is needed to supplement the $15,000 grant and other assistance being provided by the state.
With ground breaking ceremonies expected within a month, additional funds are needed to create the facilities necessary to provide leisure time activities for all age groups. An average of one dollar from each family member is needed immediately, but contributions of any amount, large or small will be appreciated. Checks may be made payable to the Rappahannock County Recreation Center Association, and mailed to Box 98, Washington, Va. 22747. Eastham noted that all donations are tax deductible.
A fund-raising committee has been organized under the overall direction of Mrs. Roberta Anderson of Woodville. Immediate activities of the committee include the sale of sandwiches and baked goods at the Arts and Crafts Show at the Sperryville firehall on October 19 and 20, and the preparation of a letter appealing to all county residents for funds.
