er, Aylor rode for the first time ever at Timonium Wednesday, (September 4) and won aboard Apriori, a 6-year-old bay gelding owned and trained by his father, William Aylor Sr.
“ ‘Things in general and the horse just went right for me,’ the 16-year-old Aylor said in the jockey’s room after the third race Tuesday. He took a longer shower than normal, washing off the shoe polish and paint applied by veteran riders in the ceremony which follows a rider’s first victory.
Aylor lives in Washington, Va., and is just starting the 10th grade at Rappahannock High School.
