SOMEONE HAS ASKED what is my biblical authority for believing in reincarnation. First, let’s examine the word. It means the immortal soul dwells again in a carnal; or mortal body. Job seemed to reason that if a fallen tree could sprout some new shoots and manifest again as a tree, surely a person could manifest again as a person. Deeply ingrained in the psyche, is the belief that we shall live again, to some of us it has been revealed that we have lived before. Primitive people believed in an after life and made preparation for the mortal body in that life. After periods of time graves were opened and those remains were still there, so we have to revise our way of thinking. If the body does not live again what does? The answer is the spirit, or soul—hence reincarnation.
Now, let us go to Matthew 11:7-14. What did the people go out to see? A spiritual being that could only manifest by moving the grass or shaking a reed. Jesus tells them that John is the actual human manifestation of Elias, the reincarnation if you please. I don’t see how so-called Christians can ignore this beautiful teaching by the Master. Maybe that is why He said: “Ifyou have ears and the intelligence to grasp it, John the Baptist is, Elias, which was to come!”D
