Raccoon hunters
advised of rules Raccoon hunters in northwestern Virginia are advised that there are different seasons on public and private lands in this area. On private property in Alleghany, Augusta, Bath, Clarke, Frederick, Highland, Page, Rockbridge, Rockingham, Shenandoah, and Warren the season for raccoon begins on October 15, and runs until February 28,.1975. On state and Federal lands (George Washington National Forest, Gathright, Goshen, Highland, Little North Mountain and Wunder Wildlife Management Areas) this season opens November 4, and runs through January 4, 1975. The differences in seasons is a conservation measure which is designed to give a measure of protection to the black bear residing on these state and Federal properties. □
