SO, FAUQUIER’S Master Plans has a great many ambiguities, to put the case mildly, and possible answers to whether it has or has not stemmed wholesale development of the kind that has inundated Prince William may be more related to postponed highways, rising gas prices, lack of mortgage money and nationwide economic conditions than it is to Fauquier’s Master Plan. And if these barriers are ever surmounted, the Plan has some projected population growth charts that could make Prince William look positively backwater rural by comparison.
Our original cautionary advice — for what it’s worth — about devising a master plan *for Rappahannock still holds. By all means be as conservative as Mr. McNear suggested, in noting the state’s lowpopula9 tion expectations for our county. And be dyen more careful than Fauquier was in putting all those pretty colored areas down on a planning map.D
