Man Shot
William Jones, 21, of Flint Hill was fatally shot early Tuesday evening in Front Royal following an argument in a basketball game. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Warren Memorial Hospital.
According to authorities, Larry Smith of Front Royal surrendered later to the police. Smith, 21, alledgedly is AWOL from his military base. The shooting followed a pick-up basketball game on the town courts at Bing Crosby Stadium in Front Royal. An argument developed in the game, and Smith walked to the edge of the court, picked up a'shotgun and fired, said witnesses. He had supposedly been hunting prior to the sail game and still had his shotgun with him. Jones is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence E. Jones of Flint Hill.
