SATURDAY evening on Route 231 south of Sperryville two vehicles were involved in a collision about 5 p.m. A1971 Ford Maverick driven by Bruce Allen Gardner of Alexandria and a 73 Dodge pickup operated by Woodson Poles Jr. of Falls Church were involved.
According to Trooper R.D. Irvine, both vehicles were travelling north on Route 231 when Poles attempted to pass the Gardner vehicle as Gardner made a sudden left turn into the H & J Grocery Store.
Poles sustained a bruised right leg and Gardner was hospitalized with injuries of the left leg and shoulder.
A cinderblock wall at the grocery was knocked over and damage to the vehicles were estimated at a thousand dollars to the pickup and the Maverick was declared “totaled” at $1500.1/:
