ON NOVEMBER 3, a warm balmy Sunday, The Old Dominion Hunter Trials attracted several hundred spectators and riders to Henchman’s Lea near Orlean. The entry was strictly from the hunting field and riders were hunting people.
The Rappahannock Hunt was represented in many of the classes. VAmong those receiving ribbons were Barbara Lane on Truant and Susan Dickie on Miss Lane’s homebred three-year-old, Tinaja. They placed second in the Hunter Pairs Class run for optimum hunter pace time. Oliver Brown’s team in the Hunter Pairs Class placed second in the speed competition.
