Activities will begin October 18 and 19 when donations of jams, jellies and pickles will be on sale at The Country Store in Washington. Owner Sharon Labovitz is seeking donations from permanently scarred by giant metal towers planned by Vepco. Donors may be listed or remain anonymous according to their wishes, Mrs. Labovitz said. Donations from concerned residents of neighboring counties will be welcomed.
A major upcoming event will be the Harvest Moon Barn Dance to be held November 1 at 8 p.m. at Sommerbeth, home of Helen and Jay Dawson of Huntly. The Dawsons’ completely renovated barn will be the site of the dance with music and a caller provided by the Claude Embrey Band of Potomac, Md.
Free cider, made from organically-grown apples, setups, doughnuts and pretzels will be served at the $10 per person hoedown. Children under 18 accompanying their parents are offered a special five-dollar rate. Square dancers will test their skill on the large dancefloor, which, along with
