in a varsity sport. This group is in charge of providing drinks and popcorn at basketball games.

Well, our Cross Country team is still moving full speed ahead, having captured two more victories last week. In competition October 7 with Central High the local Panthers scored 23 to Central’s 35. First place was taken by Joe Fleming of Central while Rappahannock took 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, and 17th.

In a meet October 9, with Page County Rappahannock had a 17 point score compared to their 41. Allan Smoot was the first runner in with Clifton Jenkins, second; Donny Compton third; Kevin Raney fourth.

Standardized testing will begin the 22nd of this month, continuing through the 27. These tests are given each year to all 8th, 9th and 11th graders, as required by the state. The tests are composed on one aptitude test and 8 achievement tests geared to show each student his strengths and weaknesses in various academic areas. They’re more commonly referred to as “dot tests”.

Due to a delay in shipment, this six week’s report cards will be coming out a little late, possibly next Tuesday or Wednesday. That might be the best news some students have heard all week!
