PERFORMANCE TESTED BULL SALE—D. D. Miller and Son of Washington, Virginia had the highest performance tested bull of all breeds at the 18th Annual B. C. I. A. Sale at Culpeper Enterprises on Friday, March 5. This Angus bull, Ginger Hill Queenston 5, had the highest weaning and yearling weight of all the 118 bulls sold. This bull had a 205 day adjusted weight of 687 pounds and a 365 day adjusted weight of 1166 pounds. Hip height, an excellent indication of frame size, was 49.5 inches and tied with a bull consigned by Randall Updike for the tallest bull in the sale.
Robert Anderson, Woodville, Va. had the second highest performing Angus bull on test. Dynamo of Bleak Hill had a weaning weight of 632 and a yearly weight of 1138.
Ray Cannon, C. E. Johnson, Jr. and Randall Updike also sold an exceptional set of high performing bulls through this sale. In fact, thirteen of the 20 bulls consigned by these five Rappahannock cattlemen weighed over 1000 pounds at 365 days of age.
CHINESE CHESTNUTS AND DOGWOODS—In response to the article on dogwoods and Chinese chestnuts, 94 county residents ordered 530 dogwoods and 200 chestnuts. Those of you who ordered trees may pick them up at the Extension Office, Washington, Va. on Friday, March 19th 8:00 a.m. to 4:30p.m. or Saturday, March 20th9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Mrs. Joyce Kramer and Mrs. June Jenkins have volunteered to help you collect your order and to collect the money. □
