“I THINK we know where we stand on the landfill unless the Board changes its mind at the next meeting,” commented Rappahannock Planning Commission member and Supervisor Chairman Pete Luke at last Wednesday’s Planning Commission meeting. “I’m sticking with a private operation. There’s no money for the county to buy any land.’’
Long-range planning for solid waste management was on the agenda for the meeting, the first since July, and the Commissioners didn’t appear to be too sure of what was expected from them. The decision of the Board of Zoning Appeals to deny Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Updike a special use permit to operate a privately-owned landfill outside of Sperryville was a main topic of discussion.
