subdivision action in the county during the last five months. Since July, the only land division was *26 acres divided into two parcels by Oscar Lingren.
Masterson added that 45 new dwelling permits had been issued since January, an unusually low 'number, according to the Commissioner of Revenue.
Two new subdivisions are under consideration, said Barksdale, but no permits had yet been applied for. One, located near Flint Hill included 80 acres proposed for five-acre lots.
“I heard they planned 38 houses,” said Luke.
Barksdale said that figure must include plans for some adjoining acreage that the developer was negotiating to buy.
Luke and Baumgardner commented on a walking tour of the Rappahannock ski area that they had gone on following an RLEP meeting with the president of the corporation that owns the area. At the meeting, James A. Moore presented plans that included a year-round operation featuring a summer bob-sled type ride, horse back riding, tennis, swimming, farmers market and craft fairs. He also mentioned a possibility of condominium development on the area’s 100 acre mountain top tract.
“Have they got trees growing on the ski slopes?” asked A. Y. Stokes.
Baumgardner replied that they had and added that if nothing is done, the slopes would probably be beyond repair in another year.
