Coast Guard Quartermaster Third Class Christopher H. Kilpatrick, son of Mr. and Mrs. James J. Kilpatrick of White Walnut Hill, Woodville, assisted in the rescue of three fishermen near the Virginia coast. He is a crewmember aboard the U. S. Coast Guard cutter Taney, homeported in Portsmouth. He attended the University of Richmond, and joined the Navy in July 1975.
The Taney rescued three fishermen of the sinking 65 ft. shrimp boat Lady Eva. Taney responded to Lady Eva’s distress call, while on Ocean Weather Station Hotel some 250 miles northeast of the Virginia Capes. Lady Eva was enroute to Solomons Island, Md. from Houma, La. when rough weather and seas pounded her until she started to leak badly. In spite of the poor weather conditions, the
