PANTHERS NAIL DRAGONS!!
R.C.H.S. Varsity Panthers downed the visiting William Monroe Dragons by the score of 53-49 on December 14. Before a packed crowd, the Panthers ended the school’s 21 game losing streak. Donnie Compton and William Carter paced the team with 14 points apiece. Aubrey Frye aided with 11 points. I congratulate the Panthers on this well-deserved victory.
A final rally by the J.V. Cagers wasn’t enough to carry them to victory. The squad was edged by Monroe 37-30. Scoring honors went to Mike Carter and Greg Bright with 12 and 9 points respectively.
Both teams had an off night on the road trip to Central High School. The Falcons of Central downed the Varsity 51-27. Scoring for the Rapps were: Thomas Jett, 7 points, Aubrey Frye, 5 points, and Brooke Miller and Donnell Carter scored 4 points each.
The J.V. Falcons squeezed by the Little Rapps 51-38. Mike Carter and Greg Bright with 12 and 11 points respectively, led the Panthers in scoring. The Varsity record shows 1-1 in the district while the J.V. bears two defeats, 0-2. The next game will be played at R.C.H.S. The Panthers will host the Elks of Elkton. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
Mr. Futrell, Guidance Counselor at R.C.H.S., announces that Donna Cannon has been selected as the DAR Good Citizen for Rappahannock County High School. In order to be selected, the student must have the qualifications of leadership, dependability, service and patriotism to an outstanding degree. Donna will receive a Good Citizen pin and a certificate of award. In addition, Donna will compete with other local DAR winners for the State Good Citizen Award, which is $100 bond or a Scholar
