ular wishes of hunters, I’ve said before I think we should limit hunting to the bow and arrow, and I still think so. As it is, they|re using high-powered ammunition which can kill at two miles.” Davis thinks the best way to accomplish what the Board of Supervisors want, and what the Game Warden wants, is to adopt state enabling legislation already on the books that prohibits hunting within 100 yards from a public highway. “I still want an intelligent local ordinance.. .that would be legally enforceable,” Davis asserted. “I’ve told the Board that there are other acts involved, other than the ones mentioned by the Game Warden, that should be considered.”
AS THINGS now stand, Davis said, “I assure you that an ordinance conforming to the state statutes will be put before the Board at its next meeting.”
At the same time, however, George Davis says the two ordinances—not one—that the Game Warden wants adopted are contradictory, “and when this happens, the courts always find in favor of the accused according to the ordinance which is most favorable to him.”
