Students of Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly presented their annual Christmas program Friday evening in the school auditorium to an overflow crowd of 300 spectators.
The program began with a reading from Isaiah 40 and from St. Luke 2, followed by the lighting of the fourth Advent Candle and by a festive procession of students to the Nativity, which was depicted on stage by First Graders. All other grades then came forward to sing carols and present recitations and dramatizations of well known Christmas legends.
Highlights of the program included the Sixth Grade dramatization of Boris Pasternak’s “Star of the Nativity,” the ThirdGrade’s recitation of Christina Rossetti’s “A Birthday Gift,” the Eighth Grade’s presentation of “A Christmas Legend from Russia” by Phyllis McGinley, and the Kindergarten’s rendition of “Ten Little Artgels.” The Wakefield Chorus sang a Medieval Latin Christmas canon;
