CLERK Ned Jones presented an application to the Board for a special use permit from E.B. and Ruth Updike to operate a sanitary landfill on Route 522 outside of Sperryville.
“I understand that they’ve given up on this piece of property,” Planning Commission Chairman Herbert Barksdale told the Supervisors. The property in question had previously been denied a permit for a landfill by the Rappahannock Board of Zoning Appeals.
Barksdale said he’d been told that the Updikes’ option to buy the property had expired and the price of the land had been raised sunstantially by the current owner. He noted that the Updikes have
