“We asked the Compensation Board not to terminate the secretary’s position,” noted Wood with regard to Irvine’s notice of her intention to resign from her responsibilities in the sheriff’s office.
“I can’t believe this situation is up in the air. Is she going to terminate tomorrow or not?” asked Eastham.
“It’s not up in the air,” countered Davis. “She will terminate.” Buntin nodded in agreement.
THE Supervisors had decided that one secretary was sufficient for both offices and had written a letter to that effect to the Compensation Board, Wood pointed out. “We could pass a resolution and call, or tjelegram,” he added, in the event that Luke wasn’t jible to keep the appointment with Buntin in Richmond.
Davis said he planned to make the trip, regardless of Luke’s and Buntin’s plans, and would certainly present any resolution from the Supervisors to the Compensation Board or explain the Supervisors’ position. “Just because I don’t agree doesn’t mean I wor^t tell them what you think.” \
Difficulties may arise, contended Eastham, if the secretary’s11 not available for sharing services and has indicated her intention to resign from the half of her job involving the Sheriff’s Department.
“If it’s personality clashes and she doesn’t feel she can work for both, maybe it’s time she stepped down and we got somebody else,” suggested Wood.
“Certainly the two offices should be compatible,” agreed Latham.
“At least the secretary should,” added Wood.
