I typed the monthly mileage reports for Sheriff Bun tin and his \ three regular deputies and one part-time deputy. I personally know that some of the deputies, prior to Mr. Davis’s complaint, did not keep a daily record of mileage used for a given month, nor did they keep speedometer readings. 1 have seen some deputies, on numerous occasions, fill in a whole month’s mileage in just one day. I do not think there is anyone, no matter how honest, that can verify a mileage report that was estimated for thirty-one days!
1 have worked for Mr. Davis for the past seven years, and although I have not always agreed with him on every issue, I have always found him to be fair and honest. He stands firm on what he believes is right and states his opinion openly.
1 think Mr. Davis should be praised for carrying out his obligation to the taxpayers and standing firm through the months of unpleasantness, until the necessary routine changes were made.
