Contest winner
Presenting a rendition of Valcik by John Mokrejs, pianist Donna Cannon won a $50 savings bond last Sunday and an opportunity to compete for the State Music Scholarship awarded by the Virginia Lions Club. She was the winner at the annual Bland Music Recital sponsored by the Rappahannock Lions Club and held at Rappahannock County Elementary School February 20th.
Arnold Glass II won second place playing Vivaldi’s Concerto in A Minor on the violin. Also participating and rounding out an afternoon of very fine music were Pam Settle, Bobby Gehringer, Christopher Puray, Nancy Massie, Tara Welty and Becky Stirman.
Donna Cannon is a Rappahannock High School Senior and plans to continue her musical education in college next year. She is a member of the National Piano Guild and has been studying piano for nine years. She is the daujj^iter of Mr. andMrs. Ray T. Cannon of Castleton.
The Rappahannock Lions Club invites all elementary, junior high and high school vocalists and instrumentalists to compete next year. □
