According to results from standard achievement tests administered nationwide, students in Rappahannock public schools are working above their ability level. County scores on individual SRA tests in reading, math, language and other subjects compared favorably with scores from students in other small towns but fell off slightly when measured against national averages.
Ability level of Rappahannock eighth graders ranked in the 34th percentile nationally, with 33 per cent of U. S. eighth graders below and 66 per cent above county scores.
Eithth grade scores in individual subject areas were consistently below ability level compared to national averages and consistently above average ability of small town students.
