James E. Swindler, the newest appointee to the Rappahannock Board of Zoning Appeals, is the owner and operator of Beach Spring Corporation which inclucTes Country Manor Gift Shop and Thornton Gap Antiques in Sperryville. He is also a part-time farmer. Swindler has lived in Sperryville all his life except for his Armed Forces service which has taken him all over the world. His last tour of duty, before retiring eleven years ago, was as an Attache to the US Embassy in Ankara, Turkey. He was the Budget, Accounting and Disbursing Agent there for four and a half years.
Swindler is a member of the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Washington Masonic Lodge, the KENA Shrine Temple and the Sperryville United Methodist Church.
Swindler and his family live at Beach Spring Farm in Sperryville. He and his wife, Phyllis, have three children:
