Immunized
A change in the State School Immunization Law requires that children entering school for the first time this fall must be immunized against mumps.
The 1981 General Assembly approved an additional change in the law which now states that if a child does not complete the series of immunizations against polio, diptheria, pertussis and tetanus within | 60 days of the opening of school, “the pupil shall be excluded from school until the pupil furnishes a certificate from a licensed physician that the required immunizations have been completed.”
Mumps vaccine is usually given as a combination immunization with measles and rubella vaccines. This vaccine and vaccines to protect against the other communicable diseases are available from private physicians or at no charge from county health departments at the following times during the month:
Rappahannock County: last Tuesday, beginning at 1 p.m.
Falconry Seasons
A split season for falconers hunting rail, woodcock and doves has been established with the first segment opening September 21, 1961, and closing December 7, 1981. Segment two of the season opens on December 19, 1981, and closes December 31, 1981. The season for taking snipe with falcons opens October 17, 1981, and closes on January 31, 1982.
