According to Donald E. Williams, commissioner of the Division of Motor Vehicles, more than 10,000 people have requested CommuniPlates since they were offered in May.
Williams said most people are reserving combinations that spell out their names, hobbies, schools, the types of cars they drive or their horoscope signs.
He added that companies with fleets of vehicles and small businesses have also requested CommuniPlates to advertise their firms and products.
