Charles Brown
Charles Shelton Brown Jr., 67, of Brandy Station, died Dec. 15 at the Culpeper Health Care Center.
He was a self-employed trucker.
A native of Culpeper County, he was the son of the late Charles Shelton and Ruby Hitt Brown. His wife Ethel Mae Brown predeceased him.
He is survived by four brothers, Billy T. Brown and Kenneth L. Brown of Stevensburg, Roy T. Brown of Culpeper and John B. Brown of Coral Springs, Fla., five sisters, Thelma B. Aylor of Lorton, Anna Mary Mitchell of Bethesda, Md., Barbara B. Fincham and Edith B. Curtis of Culpeper, and Patricia B. Strother of Virginia Beach, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Another brother, Newton R. Brown, died in 1986.
A graveside funeral service was conducted Dec. 16 at the Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper by the Rev. John S. Farrar.
Howard Mason
Howard Olin Mason, 83, of Sperryville, died Dec. 20 at Hospice of Northern Virginia after a long illness.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Chesley Mason of Sperryville, two sons, Howard William Mason of Fairfax and J. Michael Mason of Rochester Hills, Mich., a daughter Judith M. Kenyon of Sperryville, a brother Roy H. Mason of Broadway, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Dec. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Oakton Church of the Brethren, 10025 Courthouse Road, Oakton. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
