If you prefer not to use caustic cleaners, the Extension Service suggests a dish of other household detergent mixed with water. The thick suds should be applied liberally and scrubbed with a stiff brush. Heavily soiled areas may require, a second cleaning. Rinse and let dry.

If the detergent fails to get the area clean, another method is a washing powder containing trisodium

phosphate (aVailabl^'^at grocery or hardware stores) bH Washing soda (sal soda). Mix one oufti&of the powder with one gallon of warm water.
