To reduce risk from radon, the EPA suggests that home owners, especially those living in high-risk areas, observe the following safety tips. While not a cure for radon seeping into the home, undertaking these precautions will contribute to making breathing a little safer for everyone in the family.
• Stop smoking and discourage smoking in your home. By doing so, you reduce your family’s overall chance of developing lung cancer, as well as reducing your family’s risk from radon exposure.
